Eyre Peninsula

The Eyre Peninsula has incredible diversity. Sandy beaches, crystal clear waters, rugged rock formations limestone caves and sandy deserts. Whyalla on the east coast of the Peninsula is the city where the Outback Meets the Sea. With more than 300 days of sunshine per year, fascinating history and plenty to see and do Whyalla is the ideal holiday destination. Discover the largest deposits of jade in the world and buy some jewellery, see thousands of giant cuttlefish as they gather to spawn, visit the Maritime Museum or try your hand at fishing during the annual Snapper Championships.

Towns like Cowell (famous for its Jade), Port Neill and Tumby Bay have excellent facilities for visitors as well as lovely beaches, picnic spots and a relaxed atmosphere.

The rapidly growing town of Port Lincoln is situated on one of the worlds largest protected harbours at Boston Bay. Try famous Coffin Bay oysters, surf, fish, and swim or go on an aqua farm adventure. The township of Elliston on the shores of Waterloo Bay is fantastic for fishing and spotting migrating whales, sea lions and dolphins. The spectacular coastline of the Eyre Peninsula stretches right through to the Western Australian border.

Inland are the interesting townships of Wudinna, Minnipa and Kimba ( situated halfway across Australia) and the fantastic Gawler Ranges; one of South Australia’s natural wonders because of its many rare species of bird and animal life. The Eyre Peninsula offers coastal and outback adventure.
