Barossa & Clare Valley

The Barossa Valley, one of Australia’s – even the world’s most significant wine regions is only about a one hour drive from Adelaide.  Enjoy the unique European culture and heritage of this area that goes back more than 160 years.  Many of the cellar doors are housed in rustic stone buildings and also offer a variety of locally produced gourmet delights.  Visit family owned boutique style wineries or larger wineries that offer tours like Seppeltsfield, Penfolds or Yaldara. The House of Seppelt has one of the most picturesque settings of any winery in the Barossa Valley - just the drive in along 'Palm Avenue' makes a visit to the cellar door even more memorable.

Quaint leafy townships like Lyndoch, Tanunda, Nuriootpa and Angaston have an assortment of accommodation, cafés, bakeries, pubs, interesting craft shops and gourmet delicatessens.  Throughout the year there are all sorts of festivals held in the Barossa generally related to food and wine. 

The Clare Valley - located in the Mid North is also famous for its fine wines.  Clare is 136km from Adelaide and is situated amidst the picturesque wooded hills of the north Mt.Lofty ranges.  In May the Clare Gourmet Weekend brings thousands of visitors to the area.  Cycle the Riesling Trail, enjoy fine dining, spectacular views and visit stately Martindale Hall at  Mintaro.
