Welcome to Queensland

Port Douglas & Daintree

A short but superb coastal drive north of Cairns winds its way to the relaxed, tropical seaside village of Port Douglas. Palm Cove is on the way and has a beautiful tropical beach with a selection of good accommodation, boutiques and art galleries.

Port (as the locals call Port Douglas) is becoming a bit ‘busy’ for some (it’s got a real supermarket now!), but it’s still feels like a delightful fishing village. Port Douglas is home to world class resorts, golf courses, spas, restaurants and boutique style shops.  Cosmopolitan Macrossan Street has lots of eating options, Join a reef trip or stroll spectacular Four Mile Beach and the marina is a top spot for shopping and dining. Do obey the signs in stinger (jelly fish) season and only swim in the fenced areas. In town, attractions include Ben Cropp’s Shipwreck Museum and the Courthouse Museum in Anzac Park and the charming little 'seaside' church.  Sunday markets are held in Anzac Park. On the outskirts of town there’s the excellent Rainforest Habitat – breakfast with the wildlife is a treat. Port Douglas is sure to impress!

Further north is the town of Mossman, take a dip in the cold, clear waters of Mossman Gorge. The Daintree River has many ‘crocodile spotting’ river cruises.

You can take your vehicle onto the Daintree Ferry – the gateway to the sanctuary of the Wet Tropics Rainforest and Cape Tribulation where the rainforest meets the sea.

So many great reasons to make this fantastic region of the 'Tropical Top' your next holiday destination!
