Brisbane is a diverse city - a lush green city with a perfect climate. It is fast growing but easy to get around and yet has that 'big city' feel with an edge of excitement. Being subtropical means a warm welcome year-round, so anytime is a great time to visit and make the most of its relaxed atmosphere.

The meandering Brisbane River is the city's focal point: parklands of lush vegetation, walkways and cycling trails fringe its banks, passenger ferries and cruise boats constantly buzz across its waters, and seven bridges, including the graceful, 1940 Story Bridge cross it.

The central business distict is contained within one large river bend and includes Queen St Mall, the city's shopping and dining hub, and the forests of Roma St Parklands. A City Cat trip on the Brisbane River is a great way to take in the sights, visit South Bank – it even has a beach!  Apart from the excellent shopping and dining there are fantastic heritage buildings, markets, riverfront City Botanic Gardens, Queen Street Mall and the Queensland Art Gallery and Museum.

The hilly, inner-city suburbs to the north of the CBD - Paddington, Milton, Petrie Terrace and Spring Hill are known for their restaurants and wonderul mixture of traditional 'Queenslander'-style buildings, ranging from workers' cottages to colonial mansions.  Hills and leafy valleys stretch west, explore the Scenic Rim or Country Valley's; to the east, the city's outer suburbs are edged by the calm waters of Moreton Bay, which are ideal for sailing, fishing and other water sports. Head out to suburbs like Sandgate, Redcliffe ,Wynnum-Manly or Redland Bay and enjoy the beaches. Take a day trip to Bribie Island, Moreton Island or North Stradbroke Island.
