Central West

Located to the west of the Great Dividing Range, the wide expanse of plains and its rich volcanic soil make it an excellent agricultural district. Cotton, sheep, cattle and vineyards thrive here.

There is a rich gold mining history that can be seen at Hill End with its 19^th century streetscapes. Only 5km from Dubbo is the Western Plains Zoo, an open range style zoo that covers 300 hectares, it is well known throughout the world for its breeding programs.

Mudgee district is popular for it’s wines with over 40 wineries producing mostly shiraz and chardonnay. WarrumbungleNationalPark has some 21000ha and fantastic rock formations created by ancient volcanic activity. The WellingtonCaves has one of the world’s largest stalagmites and also rare cave coral.
