Central Greenough Cafe & Visitor Centre is the gateway to Central Greenough Historic Settlement. Located 22Kms South of Geraldton on the Brand Hwy.

We are open 9am until 5pm daily - Public Holidays 10am until 4pm (we are closed on Christmas Day)

Plenty to see and do

Central Greenough Historic Settlement is a collection of 11 historic buildings developed in the 1800’s as the local administrative centre, housing churches, schools, stores, government and law enforcement office’s necessary to service the surrounding farms.
During the 1860’s Greenough became a thriving agricultural area but the threat of rust on the wheat combined with drought, flood and poor prices for agricultural products led to area’s decline.

Other items of interest in the Greenough area:

  • The Leaning Tree native to Western Australia and quite a sight to see almost spooky. Member of the river gum family the Leaning Trees of Greenough are quite unique to the area. The leaning is caused by environmental factors such as strong winds and a weak root system. A lone tree and photographic point is located 20kms south of Geraldton on the Brand Hwy, 2 kms from Central Greenough Cafe & Visitor Centre. FOC

  • Greenough River mouth, what a sight to see where the Greenough River meets the Indian Ocean absolutely stunning. A seventy five metre sandbank separates the river and the ocean that you can walk along. FOC
  • Ellendale Pool, this picturesque natural pool consists of a large expanse of water set against a large cliff face in a natural valley. FOC
  • Alinta Wind Farm: Australia’s second largest wind farm opened in Walkaway in 2005. Fifty four turbines standing 80m make up the wind farm. Quite a sight to see. A viewing deck and information board is situated on sight for you to get up close and personal. FOC
